Sarah Palin stepping down as Alaska Governor

This morning Alaska Governor Sarah Palin held a press conference to announce that she would be resigning the Governorship on July 26.
Why?
Rumor and speculation has it that Governor Palin is readying a run for the White House, but others insist that her popularity has decreased since she took a more partisan approach to politics since her return from the McCain campaign trail.
I know we are still months away from White House watch 2012, but whats your take on this announcement, and do you really think Governor Palin has what it takes to make it onto the top of the ticket?

Seems to me that she was left for the wolves. Dam GOP lacks balls. Been a Republican all my voteing life and not giving up. If we get them back in power in 2010 will they piss it away like before? We need STRONG leadership that stands behind our reps. If we've got better people lets get them out there!
