This came over the transom yesterday from Assemblyman Mike Duvall's office:
GOP Leader Blakeslee Appoints Assemblyman Duvall to Rules Committee
SACRAMENTO- Assemblyman Mike Duvall (R-Yorba Linda) today announced that he has been appointed to the Assembly Rules Committee by Assembly Speaker Karen Bass.
"I am honored to serve as a sitting member of the Assembly Rules Committee,” stated Assemblyman Duvall. “The Rules Committee is essential for the Assembly to function as it assigns bills to other committees and also makes determinations on the processes and rules governing the operation of the state Assembly.”
In addition to the Rules Committee, Assemblyman Duvall serves as Vice Chair of the powerful Utilities and Commerce Committee, while also sitting on the Appropriations and Local Government Committees. The Rules Committee is easily one of the most influential bodies in the Assembly. Much like Appropriations, the Rules Committee deals with all legislative topics because it determines under which rule a bill will be assigned to a particular committee.
"I look forward to working with the Rules Committee in the coming months on all matters, legislative and procedural,” Duvall noted.
Assemblyman Duvall’s first official day as a standing member of the Rules Committee will be Monday, July 7th, 2009.
