The following key contests will be widely watched:

- Pasadena Community College Trustee: former PCC President Paulette Perfumo went missing for two weeks in August, then returned prompted questions throughout the community of Pasadena and Arcadia.
- Pomona Unified School District Board of Education: Can Jason Rothman and Robert Torres ride on their parents name for a win (Pomona Mayor Elliott Rothman and Assemblywoman Norma Torres)?
- Pico Rivera City Council: 7 candidates running for 2 council seats. How much of a local newspaper endorsement for two challengers over incumbents (Whittier Daily News) impact the race?
