Barack Obama authorizes reopening of U.S. territory to HIV

For 22 years now that the United States have sealed their borders to people with HIV. The Senate was concerned because in 1987 the spread of what we then called the "gay cancer". The United States and returned in the exclusive club of the dozen of countries implementing the ban. That's why my administration will publish on Monday a final regulation that will remove the entry ban, effective immediately after the New Year. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General Kofi Annan welcomed this major step.
